Understanding Your Credit Rating
by Jay Bush
The actual process of reporting a mistake
in your credit report is quite complex but involves the credit reporting agencies re-verifying previously made transactions and confirming
that they are true or false. This process generally takes 30 days before it is reflected on your credit report. The changes in your credit
report will be made available to the other credit reporting agencies if there is an amendment.
For most the act of obtaining the credit
reports is quite easy but the process of making reporting and pushing for amendments can be quite confusing and tedious. This is why there are
many different credit repair companies set up that specialize in dealing with problems like this. The credit repair companies will go about
finding faults and also provide consultative advice on how you can better your credit score in time for your loan.
There are however some companies that don’t
do very much other than charge you for a consultation fee and directly help you with your credit report. It is vital that you check out the
reputation of the company before signing up for their services. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has a comprehensive list of non performing
companies and can also recommend which companies provide an excellent service.
